Agent
Basal
Basal is Luna’s first shared agent — a chat assistant you can DM in Slack like any colleague. Each Lunite gets their own private conversation with its own history, so you don’t have to re-explain context every time.
How to use it
In Slack
- Open Slack and search for Basal in the sidebar (or the
@mention list). - Click the app to open a direct-message thread.
- Type your question the way you’d ask a person. You can be informal — Basal is not picky.
- Follow-ups work. Basal remembers the last several messages in your thread.
You can also mention @Basal in a channel Basal has been added to — handy for quick lookups in front of the team. Channel mentions don’t carry over to your DM thread.

Scroll to the Try it section below to chat with Basal right here, no Slack required. The responses are the same, but the trial conversations aren’t saved — each refresh starts over.
What to ask
Basal is good at:
- Drafting and editing. “Rewrite this email in a warmer tone.” “Punch up this paragraph.”
- Summarizing. Paste a long thread, a meeting transcript, a doc, or a blog post and ask for the key points.
- Brainstorming. “Give me five angles on …” or “What are the arguments against …”
- Explaining. “Explain continuous glucose monitoring like I’m new to diabetes.” “What’s a FDA 510(k)?”
- Analysis of content you paste in. Comparing two documents, pulling numbers out of a table, identifying patterns.
- Writing code. Small scripts, config snippets, SQL queries. Not a replacement for a real dev environment, but useful for one-offs.
Basal is less good at:
- Real-time information. It doesn’t browse the web. Recent news, today’s calendar, latest pull requests — Basal doesn’t see those yet.
- Luna-specific knowledge. For now Basal only knows what’s in its general training data. It can’t read our internal documents. (Retrieval over Luna’s documents is on the roadmap.)
- Remembering across threads. Your DM thread has memory, but context doesn’t cross between threads or channels.
A few useful prompts
- “Rewrite this to be one paragraph and half the length: [paste]”
- “I’m about to send this email to a regulator. Tell me what’s unclear or could be misread.”
- “Summarize this meeting transcript in three bullet points and then list any open questions: [paste]”
- “I’m designing a survey about device comfort. Suggest five short questions a user could answer in under a minute each.”
Privacy & security
- Your conversations are private. Other employees cannot see your messages with Basal.
- Luna-owned infrastructure. Basal runs on Luna’s own Cloudflare infrastructure. It is not a third-party SaaS product.
- No AI training on your data. Basal is powered by Claude. Zero Data Retention is enabled on Luna’s Anthropic workspace, meaning Anthropic does not use our interactions to train its models.
- Audit logging. All interactions go through Cloudflare’s AI Gateway and are logged for security and observability. The log captures metadata (timing, tokens, cost), not message content.
- Identity verification. Your identity is confirmed through your Slack account’s
@lunadiabetes.comemail address.
Don’t put in Basal
Don’t paste protected health information, patient identifiers, or any confidential third-party data covered by NDA. Basal is an internal productivity tool, not a cleared system for regulated data.
